After posting so many gifs and stills, I thought I’d share an actual video. I’ve been working on this project for over two years (if you follow me, you may have noticed), creating kaleidascopic videos as an exploration into the sublime nature of symmetry, and to discover unique patterns and rhythms.
The goal has always been to create a short film from the best material generated, but to be honest, it’s more satisfying to tinker around and iterate new comps than it is to edit it down into a polished short. Every time I get the desire to finish it up, I get sucked back by the hypnotic allure of novel possibilities.
I’m hoping to round the corner this year, as soon as I can upgrade my hardware and decide on a workflow… as it stands, a full render for each comp takes anywhere from 1-8 hours and comes out 3-15GB in size (and by now, I’ve got well over two hours worth of comps — this video is just a drop in the bucket). One of these days I’ll have the hardware and discipline to finish this beast of an experiment.
Anyways, please enjoy in fullscreen on HD, with your own soundtrack. It’s best that way.
